Tonka

Tonka is a 16.1hh, 8 yr old, Buckskin, Gelding with a very long thick mane and tail!!! He has an excellent Pedigree. I’ll dare anyone to go find one like him… because I know that you can’t find one that looks as beautiful as he does but you’ll also be hard pressed to find one that rides as good and is as well trained as him! I have used Tonka as my personal horse for the last few months, he has been hauled to several states to bird dog field trials and my wife and 4 year old son have trail ridden him many miles as well. Tonka is the perfect gentleman for any rider! For me I can use him when training bird dogs because he always stands quietly and is patient. He moves out when I ask him, neckreins very well so I can ride him one handed when leading a dog and has a nice lope if I need to get to a dog in a hurry! He is great for the family because he is calm and gentle. My wife and kid ride him double and he has no cares about what is going on up on top of him whether that is arms waving around, toys tied to the saddle or saddle bags filled with snacks and drinks. He is always the same broke, laid back, horse whether ridden everyday or once in a few weeks. He is the perfect gentleman in a crowd trail riding or whether creeping along in the gallery at a field trial. He has also been rented out as a judge’s horse for the judge to ride and watch the dogs on. Tonka has a very smooth and very natural run-walking gait where he will nod his head, he can speed up to about 10mph in his Racking gait which is also smooth and has a very nice short lope canter too. He will canter from a flatfoot walk then drop back down and ride on a loose rein with no fuss. Tonka is easy to catch, clip, bath, tack-up, load, and handle in anyway. Tonka is gentle and safe for anyone to ride. He will flatfoot walk on a loose rein or he can move on out if you ask. When on the trails he is always great! He has been exposed to all kinds of wildlife such as deer or turkey or other animals like cows or dogs and will go anywhere that he is asked too. He will go up or down even the steepest slopes, across deep creeks, over downed trees, and over all types of rough terrain while still being sure footed. He has been rode in traffic, and is very traffic safe around cars, semi, log, and dump trucks. He has a great attitude about whatever he is asked to do and is always willing.
