Dreaming of Champagne, aka Caspian, is a stunning 5yr Amber Champagne Warmblood cross gelding, registered and microchipped with the International Sporthorse Registry. He stands a stocky 15.2HH measured barefoot with a stick. Caspian’s sire AQHA Skippin the Bars competes in mounted shooting, where his calm level-headed disposition comes from. His damline is dressage and hunter performers with the Hanoverian Rosenthal and German Riding Pony Champion’s Devito lineage. The Warmblood x Quarter Horse cross gives the best of both worlds in temperament, conformation, movement, trainability, and comfort under saddle.
We jokingly say he is a Warmblood crossed with a sofa because he is the most comfortable horse to ride! Perfect for riders with back issues or who struggle to sit the trot. Caspian is a very unique Amber Champagne color, complete with a velvety golden coat, amber eyes, intense summer dapples, assorted shades of brown in the mane and tail, and speckled skin that looks like freckles around the eyes and muzzle. Talk about a head-turner! He is GORGEOUS! And his personality is excellent. Caspian is an in-your-pocket love bug! He adores everyone and is always a barn favorite, showering each guest with kisses and nuzzles. He will meet you at the gate and put his head into whatever halter you hold. He loves attention and is always happy to go for a ride, however often that might be.
He will pick up right where you left off, even if he sits for weeks. Caspian has had a well-rounded education under saddle. He spent over a year as a kid’s hunter lesson horse and was used at summer camp teaching beginner children the basics of horse care and riding. Caspian jumps around a hunter course with flying changes, schools cross country, and trains in dressage. You can also throw a western saddle on him and take him out on the trails. He is accustomed to riding around highway traffic, farm machinery, livestock, dogs, etc. and is surefooted on steep hills, rocky roads, and other tricky terrain.
He even rides through the trail obstacle course the mounted police use for training, including the teeter totter, bridges, tents, and more. Caspian recently went on his first overnight camping trip, riding 3.5 hours with an advanced beginner on Saturday and 8+ miles on Sunday during the annual poker ride. He is a smart horse and learns quickly, always curious in the job presented. Caspian could shine in many different riding disciplines with his temperament and trainability. For reference, the riders in the video are 5’6” and 5’11”. Caspian is beautiful, comfortable to ride, has the best temperament, and well-rounded training under saddle. What more could you want in your DREAM HORSE? He is a gentleman who catches, ties, bathes, braids, loads, and hauls. He gets along with the other horses in turnout and has perfect stall manners. Caspian is a barefoot easy keeper and up-to-date on everything.
